Assist Personal Activities High

Noel NCS are registered with NDIS to assist and/or supervise various personal activities of daily life of participants who require a HIGH level of support. These supports are provided by a worker with additional qualifications and experience relevant to the participant’s complex needs. The support we provide can be anywhere in Bundaberg and in a range of environments, including but not limited to, the participant’s own home or shared accommodation. It may also be required when the participant is undertaking social, recreational, education or employment activities or even during holidays away from home. Examples of where a higher level of personal assistance is required includes: • Where active support is needed due to high medical requirements. Assist personal Activities

Personal care supports relate to assistance with daily personal activities including assistance with, or supervision of, personal tasks of daily life. For example: • personal hygiene, including showering, bathing, oral hygiene, dressing and grooming • toileting, bladder and bowel management and menstrual care • eating and drinking • attending appointments • use of aids and appliances, hearing, and communication devices • mobility and transferring, for example moving in and out of bed and on or off the toilet or • application of splints, basic first aid due to injuries sustained as a result of a participant’s disability. Personal care supports may be required across a variety of settings. For example, a participant living alone in their own home, living with family or other people, when undertaking social, recreational, education or employment activities or during holidays away from home. At Noel NCS our friendly and experienced staff will look after the needs of our clients by encouraging them to be as independent as they can be and to improve their functional abilities.

Community Nursing Care

Depending on the kind of disability, participants require various kinds of medical care and attention. The community nursing care program by Noel NCS prescribes the need for participants to become independent when it comes to their health, as a major part of the program. Through the community nursing care program, participants are trained on how to take care of their health in scenarios such as medication, wound care, hygiene, and help with showering or dressing. There is usually a registered nurse or medical practitioner appointed who will monitor the patient’s progress and will amend the treatment and medication accordingly. The following are some of the services offered under the community nursing care program: • Visiting nurse and assessment • Developing treatment plans • Case management • Setting up medication • Medication administration/supervision • Wound care • Stoma care • Respiratory support • Continence advice and management • Palliative support • Diabetes management • Dementia management • Hospital stay after-care • Overnight nursing care • Monitoring of vitals • Education for participants and their families • At Noel NCS we have certified and experienced Registered Nurses who can render community nursing care under the NDIS program. We provide an obligation-free consultation in the comfort of your own home, with the purpose of listening and understanding your needs. With us, each participant that has community nursing care in their NDIS support plan is allocated a RN who will keep in touch to discuss, monitor, and provide feedback on the participant’s medication, treatments, and progress. Besides this, our staff members offer advice on how to engage in basic self-care and nursing wherein one will become capable of doing simple things like wound care or first aid on their own.

Daily Tasks/Shared Living

At Noel NCS, we offer assistance to participants to help them live their desired autonomous lives by assisting and helping them with small household tasks. This registration group includes Supported Independent Living (SIL) and assistance with daily life. We have highly trained and dedicated staff who can assist with supervising tasks of daily life in a shared living environment. Our team members are competent and capable of providing caring support to participants to enable them keep living independently and autonomously. We understand that each participant is different and that means that each person will have different needs and requirements. We often endeavour to find out about what is important to you, your lifestyle, your ideal home situation, important relationships, and routines before assigning a team member to you for assistance. Our supports include but not limited to: • Helping you with budgeting, • Maintaining social skills, and positive family and peer relationships, • Assisting you with written communication, completing forms, and paying bills, • Providing hands-on assistance with household activities including meal preparation, being a good neighbour, paying rent on time, domestic tasks etc. • Assisting you with shopping, • Supporting you to attend appointments, • Maintaining health and wellbeing.

Innovative Community Participation

As the NDIS describes it, these supports are for special activities that are not covered by other community participation categories. The idea is to make community engagement more accessible to people living with disabilities, so that they can fulfill their potential and reach their personal goals, including independence. By taking advantage of the available supports, participants will develop skills, build capacity, connect with new people, and create new economic, social, and educational opportunities for themselves (like, finding employment). In the long-term, more community participation leads to greater independence, meaning participants require less supports and hence save money. You can access this support from Noel NCS if your NDIS plan has the capacity-building funding for “Increased social and community participation.” It is flexible and meets your needs in the best possible way. You can inform your support coordinator and support worker if you are interested in availing this support. Or you can contact us directly.

Development Life Skills

Life Skills are the things we learn along the way that enable us to function from day to day in a complex world full of challenges, expectations, unseen obstacles, and unavoidable circumstances. People living with disabilities often have different experiences where they may not have had the same exposures, or they may face different obstacles, and in turn, they have a different set of life skills. How can Life Skills and Development Services Help Someone with a Disability? Disability is a broad term and encompasses many challenges that people face in manoeuvring through the world. It could be that you have a physical disability, impairing your motor functions or mobility. Likewise, you could have a cognitive or emotional disability, where you’re unable to appropriately interact with the world presented to you. Or it could be a combination of these. Developing additional life skills allows you to live more independently and achieve your goals for a fulfilling life. This development is not as simple as buying an assistive device; it takes time, mentoring, motivation, and encouragement to reach your goals. But when you do eventually develop more life skills, you will have a toolset that enables you to face almost any obstacle and move past it. Whether you have a well-developed skill set and need specific training, or you are broadly dependent on others for a whole host of day to day activities, Noel NCS can help you. We will work with you to assess your needs and come up with a plan that addresses specific areas where we can help you live more independently. • Personal hygiene • Paperwork or paying your bills • Maintaining a clean home • Meal planning and preparation • Social interaction • Healthy behaviours and exercise • Setting priorities • And much more!

Household Tasks

Noel NCS offers cleaning services across all areas that are regularly used by our clients within their own homes. Tasks can be tailored to meet your personal needs and preferences. We understand that each client's individual needs are different and will work within your specific requirements if you choose to make use of our services. Independence at home is important for people with disabilities and NDIS household tasks allow people to continue living in the homes that they know and love while allowing them to maintain their independence. What kind of household tasks can we cover? Support workers will undertake a wide range of tasks at your home. Household Tasks may include: • Cleaning stovetops • Wiping down benchtops • Wiping down inside fridges • Dusting • Washing all the dishes • Changing bed linen • Routine vacuum cleaning of floors, mats, and other surfaces • Cleaning bathrooms including showers, baths, and toilets • Removing cobwebs from ceilings, corners, and skirting boards • Vacuuming cushions and furniture • Emptying rubbish bins • Mopping floors including tiled areas • Polishing banisters, rails and other surfaces that have been previously cleaned • Cleaning or replacing light fixtures and bulbs • Vacuuming under sofas, beds, desks, and other furniture • Watering indoor plants as requested • Feeding pets as agreed to in consultation with the client • Laundry services including washing, drying, and folding clothes where appropriate • Ironing clothes in accordance with client preferences • Cleaning windows • Replacing light bulbs in frequently used rooms where necessary • Clearing out fridge/freezer when requested by the client • Cooking meals for clients when requested, if pre-arranged • Chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients for cooking • Getting groceries bought on your list when requested Didn't see the service you were after listed above? Send us a message with your requirements and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Participate Community

People with a disability usually find it difficult to interact and engage in activities in a social setting. At Noel NCS we understand how much community participation can change a person’s well-being and we constantly work towards establishing an environment that engages people and encourages them to interact more freely. As per the Assistance with Social and Community Participation, the NDIS may fund a support worker to support you for the following: • To attend personal development classes • Go for an outing or a holiday • Becoming a member of any social group • Participating in community events or being part of a club • Visiting the local library • Going to the movies or for concerts To know more, get in touch with us and we will be able to guide you through Assistance with Social and Community Participation. While NDIS does its best at covering all necessary costs so you can live the life you want. NDIS may not pay for certain activities, and you must confirm those with us. Skilled Staff Provide Assistance with Social and Community Participation At Noel NCS we believe that everyone deserves to live the life they want to live and help with disabilities can bring those desired chances to life. Our team of skilled staff are always there to create an environment that is safe and encourages engagement, interaction and involvement. What is not covered? This is where Social and Community Participation funding can get a little tricky. You can’t generally use your NDIS funding to pay for the cost of coaching, course fees or class fees such as a woodworking class or a TAFE course. So, for an example, it’s likely that you would have to pay for the woodwork activity and any associated equipment yourself. However, if it is a ‘reasonable and necessary’ cost that relates to your disability and is closely connected to the goals in your NDIS Plan, you may be able to use your NDIS Plan to pay for some costs associated with participating. Keep in mind, the following are generally not covered by the NDIS: • Ticket prices or entry fees such as movie tickets or entry to a museum • Ticket prices or entry fees for your support worker or a person accompanying you • The cost of meals, coffee, or other food items while you are attending activities • Equipment costs such as buying sporting gear except for the purchase of specialised equipment related to your disability. If you need further information, do not hesitate to contact our office

Group/ Centre Activities

Here support is designed to assist and encourage participants to join in community, social and recreational activities with a group. The goal is to foster an inclusive and stimulating environment in which participants are free to meet new people, make new friends, participate in activities, and learn new skills, all while socialising and having fun. A broad range group-based activities and programs are available to participants, including: • Arts and crafts • Music • Sport • Dance • Board games • Trivia • Disco • Cooking • Tours • Travel Group/Centre Activities also help participants develop critical skills like handling money, planning and organising activities, using computers, and resume building. Though Noel NCS has been approved to offer this service, we are still working hard to create a facility to provide this. We shall update soon, once we are ready. Please contact our friendly staff for more details.
